In further reply to your letter of the lat. inst.
numbered as above I have to report that I have found a man
whom I can highly recommend to fill the appointment to
which you refer and the particulars of the duties of which
you sent me.
His name is Harry A. Taylor and he is at the present
time a Demonstrator in this Society's School of Pharmacy
in which capacity he has been acting for the past eighteen
months, having spent two years previously in the School
as a Student, during which time he obtained Certificates
of Honour in Materia Medica, Botany, and Practical Chemistry,
in the Prize Competitions.
Mr. Taylor passed the Minor Examination at the
end of his first year, and at the end of the second Session
he passed the Major Examination and became a Pharmaceutical
Chemist. He is a well informed all round man having, as
I said, obtained special Certificates in several subjects.
He has been under my observation for nearly four years
and I have very much pleasure in recommending his for the
appointment.
I may mention that I took advantage of a call
that Dr. Koch of Hong Kong paid me to-day to ask him to
interview Mr. Taylor as I thought your Department might
